PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Police say a person of interest has been taken into custody in connection with a death at a Motel 6 in southeast Portland.

The Portland Police Bureau says the incident began as officers attempted to stop a stolen car that was observed leaving the motel Friday morning. They soon after stopped the pursuit because of public safety concerns.

Officers still at the motel then learned of a deceased person in one of the rooms and called homicide detectives.

Officers later located the stolen car on the 4000 block of Southeast 51st Avenue.

Police say after getting a call about a suspicious person running through a yard officers arrested the person they believe was likely driving the stolen car and who is a person of interest in the motel death.
