Hollywood icon Clint Eastwood will return to the topic of terrorism for his next movie project.

Casting calls are underway for the Warner Bros. Pictures’ retelling of the 2015 heroics of three Americans who stopped an ISIS attack on a train from Brussels to Paris. Mr. Eastwood, who directed the 2014 hit “American Sniper,” will helm “15:17 To Paris: The True Story Of A Terrorist, A Train, And Three American Heroes,” based on a book written by Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, Spencer Stone and Jeffrey E. Stern.

Ayoub El-Khazzani boarded train #9364 in Brussels on Aug. 21, 2015, armed with an AK-47, a pistol, a box-cutter and a large cache of ammunition. Messrs. Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, and Spencer Stone — all childhood friends — charged the terrorist and saved hundreds of lives.

France awarded all three men and a Briton with its highest honor for their courage, the Legion d’Honneur. Mr. Stone, then a 23-year-old member of the U.S. Air Force, was also awarded a Purple Heart.

Deadline Hollywood broke news of the upcoming film Thursday, which will be based on a script by Dorothy Blyskal.

Mr. Eastwood will produce the film with Tim Moore, Kristina Rivera and Jessica Meier.
