Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price said Thursday there is a “plan B” for the GOP’s plan to repeal and replace Obamacare.

“There’s always a plan B,” he said on CNN. “You just need to make certain that you not only have a plan B, but you have a plan C and a D and an E and a F as well.”

The Georgia Republican, who drafted his own health care plan while a member of Congress, said the debate is not about what he wants, but about what Congress and President Trump decide is best.

“The process that we have is not what Secretary Price thinks ought to be the legislation,” he said. “It’s what 535 individuals in the Congress of the United States and the president believes is the most appropriate thing and the best thing moving forward.”

Mr. Price also said he felt the GOP’s first plan, which later collapsed, was better than the current system.

“I believe firmly that the bill that has been discussed and was put before Congress is a significantly better program than the one that we currently have,” he said.

Both Mr. Trump and Republicans on Capitol Hill have said health care reform is still a top priority that will be addressed when members return from recess next week.
