PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) - An Ocean Springs woman isn’t going to prison after she admitted to embezzling over $90,000 from her former employer.

News outlets report Judge Dale Harkey sentenced 28-year-old Ashley Bandyk on Wednesday to a 5-year suspended sentence, with time served under post release supervision for her 2015 arrest. The Judge ordered her to pay over $90,000 in restitution and other fees. Prosecutors recommended a 10-year sentence with three years under house arrest.

In court Bandyk said she’s thought about her actions and her objective now is to make up for it.

According to police, Bandyk was hired to help the victim in his daily routine and manage his finances, which he couldn’t tend to because of medical conditions.

He’s seeking $150,000 in damages in addition to the $91,000.
