Vice President Mike Pence said Wednesday that he believes the administration can work with Congress to still pass a repeal-and-replace plan for Obamacare.
“I’m very confident that in the days ahead, we’re going to see the Congress come together,” Mr. Pence said on CNN’s “New Day.”
Although Mr. Pence is on a foreign trip around Asia, he has been making calls to Republicans to discuss the replacement plan as Congress looks to try and pass health care reform again after the recess.
“President Trump has made it clear that the first priority of this Congress should be to repeal and replace Obamacare.”
Mr. Pence also addressed the growing calls for the president to release his tax returns, something the vice president said he plans to do.
“During the course of the campaign, we released our taxes. As I told you, it was a pretty short read,” Mr. Pence said. “I expect we’ll continue that tradition.”
But Mr. Pence said the president would “make his own decision” on whether to release those returns or not.
