INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Indianapolis man accused in a murder-for-hire scheme that authorities say led to the fatal shootings of four men within four days no longer faces charges in any of the cases.
The Indianapolis Star reports (https://indy.st/2oo59CX ) a dismissed the last two counts of murder against 24-year-old John Means on Monday at the request of prosecutors, who said they could not proceed with the evidence they have. Prosecutors can refile the charges later.
Means had been charged in the Jan. 28, 2014, shooting deaths of Tyrece Dorsey and William Davis.
A jury in February acquitted Means in the Feb.1, 2014, slayings of Julius Douglas and Carlos Jefferson.
A message seeking comment was left for Means’ attorney.
Prosecutors had accused Means of carrying out slayings arranged by an Indianapolis drug dealer.
