Sen. Lindsey Graham said Wednesday that Republicans “dodged a bullet” with the collapse of health care reform.
“I think we dodged a bullet with health care. I’m not so sure the House bill would’ve done much better with fixing Obamacare,” the South Carolina Republican said on “Fox & Friends.”
He said his plan would be to let the bill totally collapse before stepping in and fixing it with bipartisan support.
“I would let it collapse, because it will. It’s so poorly designed,” Mr. Graham said. “I would tell Democrats, you created this mess, let us help you fix it. I think Democrats and Republicans should work together to fix on Obamacare.”
On taxes and infrastructure, Mr. Graham said those two issues may need to be addressed together if Republicans can’t come together on a tax reform plan.
“If you can’t get all Republicans together on taxes, you’re going to have to marry it up with infrastructure,” he said.
Mr. Graham also warned that Congress better have some kind of tax cuts this year, or they will face consequences with voters.
“We better cut your taxes, or we’ll pay a price in 2018,” he said. “The only thing people will remember in 2018 or 2020 is if we did good.”
