Rep. Peter King praised Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly on Wednesday for the department’s renewed commitment to combating terrorism.

The New York Republican reacted to a speech Mr. Kelly gave at George Washington University on Tuesday, saying Mr. Kelly showed he’s committed to enforcing the laws.

“I think the fact that Secretary Kelly is driving home the point of what [FBI] Director [James] Comey said about investigations in all 50 states, but it’s intensifying,” Mr. King said.

“He is on top of this and that he is going to commitment the full resources Homeland Security to do whatever we can to find these plots, to find the people involved and stop them before they can get started,” Mr. King said.

He also added that Mr. Kelly’s commitment to enforcing border laws and preventing illegal border crossings will help prevent dangerous crimes, especially those that are drug-related.

“When you have people coming across the border involved in these dealings they’re here to cause harm in many cases,” Mr. King said.
