Despite tight polling heading into Tuesday’s race in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District, one candidate will not be able to vote for himself.
Democratic candidate Jon Ossoff said Tuesday that he’s been transparent about the fact that he does not currently live in the district he’s running for, but instead lives just outside the area with his girlfriend who is in medical school.
“I grew up in this district. I grew up in this community,” Mr. Ossoff explained on CNN’s “New Day.” “It’s something I’ve been very transparent about. In fact, I’m proud to be supporting her career.”
Mr. Ossoff also said he’s not focused on the national interest of the race, widely thought to be a referendum on President Trump’s administration.
“This race is about local economic issues and values that unite people in the community here in Georgia,” Mr. Ossoff said. “All politics is local.”
