Comedian Dave Chappelle is officially the king of Netflix.

The world’s leading Internet television network revealed Tuesday that its first collection of comedy specials featuring Mr. Chappelle drew a record number of views from its 93 million members. “Deep in the Heart of Texas: Live at Austin City Limits” and “The Age of Spin: Live at the Hollywood Palladium,” which earned the comedian $60 million, was money well spent to Netflix shareholders.

“The triumphant return of a comedy legend in Dave Chappelle: Collection 1 was our most viewed comedy special ever,” the company said, Entertainment Weekly reported. “We are also finding this to be true in international markets as well, with comedian Gad Elmaleh’s Gad Gone Wild, a breakout hit in France last quarter.”

Mr. Chappelle’s “The Age of Spin” captured additional headlines upon its March release for jokes about Caitlyn Jenner and LGBT issues. Activists like April Reign, known for launching the #OscarsSoWhite campaign, called his material “homophobic and transphobic.”

Netflix does not make its exact statistics known to the public.
