Sen. Ted Cruz emphasized Tuesday that President Trump and Republicans in Congress need to deliver on their promises.

“We’ve got to deliver on the promises we’ve made,” the Texas Republican said on “The Mike Gallagher Show.” “This is a dangerous time and it’s also a time that’s ripe with opportunity.”

Mr. Cruz said that the president’s moves in North Korea show he is following through on his campaign commitment of rebuilding American strength across the globe.

“President Trump is sending very serious signals, and signals that they should listen to, that there are consequences for threatening and waging war against the United States,” Mr. Cruz said. “There’s no doubt that a return of American strength is critical.”

Mr. Cruz blamed the recent escalation of the nuclear situation in North Korea on former President Obama’s policies, saying Mr. Obama “exacerbated” the situation. He also said allies around the globe saw America as weak and unreliable.

But Mr. Cruz said Mr. Trump has started to change that perception “in word and in action.”
