Ashley Graham, who made history in 2016 as the first plus-size model to grace the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, is coming out with a new memoir, in which she recounts how she was sexually molested by family friend at 10 years of age.

The model said the 18-year-old son of her parents’ friends forced her to touch his erection while they were drying off in her laundry room after swimming in the pool, People magazine reported

Ms. Graham also recounts growing up with a verbally abusive father and a struggle with substance abuse earlier in her modeling career.

Co-written with Rebecca Paley — who helped out with actress Leah Remini’s 2016 memoir on her exodus from Scientology — Ms. Graham’s “A New Model: What Confidence, Beauty, and Power Really Look Like” hits bookstore shelves on May 9 and is available for pre-order on Amazon.com.
