CANDLER, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in North Carolina say a local man is accused of taking more than $5,000 to do at least four paving jobs, but never showing up to do the work.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reports (https://avlne.ws/2oGbRXN) 39-year-old Daryl Lee Campbell was charged with three felony counts of obtaining property under false pretenses and three misdemeanor charges of failure to do work after being paid. Both Asheville police and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case, which involved homeowners in Leicester, Biltmore Park and Asheville.
Campbell was also arrested on warrants saying he failed to appear in court to answer previous charges of obtaining money by false pretenses and driving with a revoked license.
Campbell is being held on a $124,000 bond, and it’s not known if he has an attorney.
