Kellyanne Conway, senior counselor to President Trump, called on Democratic leaders Monday to address the Tax Day protests from over the weekend.
“I would love to hear the new DNC Chairman Tom Perez, Bernie Sanders, the Democratic senator from Vermont, who are going out on the road today, and I would love to hear Hillary Clinton who lost to Donald Trump handily, I’d love for them come forward as leaders of Democratic Party and tell people to stop,” Ms. Conway said on “Fox & Friends.”
Protests over Mr. Trump’s failure to release his tax returns turned violent in cities across the country on the deadline for Americans to file their tax returns.
“They have a right to express their First Amendment beliefs, but at the same time, violence is not going to get us anywhere,” Ms. Conway said.
The president’s senior adviser said she wished to see Democratic leaders redirect their party’s efforts toward helping the administration pass legislation on key issues like health care or taxes.
“I’d love to hear Democratic leaders of the party, instead of still talking about the election, move forward and help us negotiate. Help us get some Democratic votes on tax reform and health care reform and infrastructure.”

Ms. Conway also said Republicans were continuing to work over the recess on the president’s legislative agenda.
“You have Republicans that are home but that are working. The president making it clear this past week [health care is] very important to him.”
Ms. Conway said that the president wants a “free market patient-centric health care system” that allows for interstate purchasing and “reasonable” drug pricing.
