ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - Police are investigating a fatal shooting just a few blocks west of the State Capitol in St. Paul.
Officers were dispatched to the area in an alley behind a multi-unit dwelling around 2:45 p.m. Saturday. Police spokesman Sgt. Mike Ernester says they arrived to find a man with an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The man’s name hasn’t been released and police weren’t immediately sure if the man lived in the building.
Investigators were trying to determine what led to the shooting, but police believe it was an isolated incident.
Neighbors say the building has often been the site of suspicious activity.
The shooting marked St. Paul’s eighth homicide of 2017.
