DARIEN CENTER, N.Y. (AP) - State police still haven’t closed the books on the murder of a 66-year-old western New York woman nearly four decades ago.
Two deer hunters discovered the partially decomposed body of Jessica Rose Lane in November 1977. The corpse was found in a wooded area in the town of Darien in Genesee County. She was fully clothed and had three broken ribs, a fractured left elbow and a fractured skull that investigators say likely was caused by a stabbing.
Lane lived alone and was last seen two weeks earlier at an apartment complex in the Buffalo suburb of Cheektowaga. State police investigators say the exact location where the murder occurred hasn’t been determined.
Troopers have identified suspects, but no arrests have been made.
