DETROIT (AP) - Three health systems will work with the city to train Detroit residents for entry-level health care jobs.
Mayor Mike Duggan announced the partnership with the Detroit Medical Center, Henry Ford Health System and St. John Providence on Thursday.
Training for patient care associates and patient sitters will be provided by Focus: HOPE and Oakland University’s School of Nursing Continuing Education.
The health care systems will recruit from the same pool of talent.
Enrollment is open through the first week in May. Training is expected to start later in May.
The program is part of Duggan’s Detroit at Work Initiative which is designed to build the city’s talent pool, create opportunity for residents and give employers access to a demand-driven talent pipeline.
