House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mike McCaul said Thursday that it’s time for the United States to develop a strategy in Syria.
Although President Trump took “decisive action” last week in launching airstrikes against Syria, it’s time for Congress to step up, said Mr. McCaul, Texas Republican, on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“What is our strategy in Syria,” Mr. McCaul asked, “Congress has a role to play in that.”
Syrian leader Bashar Assad’s use of chemical weapons against his own people last week sparked outrage around the world. Mr. McCaul pointed out that use of such weapons was “a violation of international law” and that Mr. Assad must be held accountable for those actions.
