BOSTON (AP) - A Massachusetts woman faces up to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to embezzling more than $60,000 from her employer.
The Daily News of Newburyport reports (https://bit.ly/2px5Qu2 ) that 41-year-old Michelle Higson, of Georgetown, pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston this week to one count of bank fraud and two forgery charges.
Prosecutors say Higson stole checks from her Rowley-based company, forged her employer’s signature and deposited the money in her own account. Higson, a part-time bookkeeper, then made fake entries in the company’s ledger to conceal the payments.
She is scheduled to be sentenced on July 27.
