BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - The Burlington School Board and the teachers’ union plan to meet in another mediation session in May to try to resolve differences in a teachers’ contract.

The two sides have significant differences in proposed salaries and health care packages for the upcoming fiscal year, which starts in July. The school board declared an impasse on March 17.

The two sides met in a seven-hour mediation session on Monday.

The school district says the mediator told both sides to come up with alternatives to their current positions. The district says those proposals will be reviewed on May 31, when the mediation session resumes.
