WILKINSBURG, Pa. (AP) - Authorities in western Pennsylvania have confirmed that one of two people shot in a borough near Pittsburgh was a county probation officer, but said his injuries weren’t life-threatening.

Allegheny County officials said he and another person were sitting on a porch in Wilkinsburg when two men approached from an alley and opened fire shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials said initial reports were that neither victim had life-threatening injuries, and the probation officer was “responsive, alert, walking and talking” when he was taken to a trauma center. The other person, described as a resident of the home, was also taken to a trauma center.

Two suspects were being sought, and county police and sheriffs were being assisted in a search by police from Pittsburgh and neighboring communities.
