SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - California State University is suing the manufacturer of the athletic track at Sacramento State over a $1.4 million resurfacing job it claims began to show signs of deterioration shortly after completion.
The Sacramento Bee reported (https://bit.ly/2nEl5F0) Tuesday that CSU filed the lawsuit against Mondo USA Inc. for unspecified damages. The university alleges breach of contract, breach of warranty and negligence.
The eight-lane 400-meter track and two-lane 400-meter warm-up track were resurfaced with gold and green in 2014.
The lawsuit says the tracks were faded and showed staining and that subsequent attempts by Mondo to fix them compromised the track’s performance.
CSU claims Mondo’s actions threatened to harm Sacramento State’s reputation as a venue for local, state, national and international competitions.
The lawsuit says Mondo USA blamed university maintenance staff for the deterioration.
