Rob Gronkowski has been battling a hamstring for the past three weeks, and now it looks like the situation may be a bit worrisome for all of New England.
Gronkowski did not travel Friday with the New England Patriots as the team left for Arizona to face the Cardinals on Sunday night, according to Mark Daniels of the Providence Journal.
It is still possible for Gronkowski to head to Arizona Saturday, but the fact that he didn’t travel with the team is still a concern.
Gronkowski injured his hamstring in a joint practice with the Chicago Bears on Aug. 15. Initially the injury wasn’t seen as a major issue, despite the fact that the 27-year-old tight end didn’t play in a single preseason game.
Gronkowski hasn’t played in a preseason game since 2012.
The Patriots will already be without Tom Brady, who will serve the first of his four game suspension for the infamous “Deflategate” incident. But to be without the NFL’s most dominant tight end against one of the top teams in the NFL is not an ideal way to start a season.
