Donald Trump’s presidential campaign announced Thursday that it had raised $90 million over the month of August, marking his best fundraising month of the 2016 presidential race.

Hillary Clinton raised $143 million over the same period of time.

The August haul includes $5 million raised the same day that he traveled to Mexico to meet with President Enrique Pena Nieto and then Arizona, where he outlined a ten-point plan on immigration.

The campaign said that Mr. Trump has now contributed a total of almost $60 million to his campaign.

“We have broad support from across America,” said Steven Mnuchin, the Trump campaign’s finance chairman. “Hillary Clinton and her super PACs have spent over $130 million on negative political ads, and yet we are virtually tied (or better) in the most recent national polls and leading in many of the important swing states.”

Mr. Trump raised $80 million in July and $51 million in June in coordination with the Republican National Committee.

The money raised included the money that came into two  joint fundraising committees - Trump Victory and Trump Make America Great Again.

“We are very pleased he has continued to dedicate time to fundraise with the RNC to support important ground operations for the Republican Party,” Mr. Mnuchin said.
