After missing the entire preseason, Washington Redskins rookie wide receiver Josh Doctson returned to practice on Monday.
Speaking to reporters at Redskins Park on Monday, coach Jay Gruden said Doctson did “pretty good” and participated in some team drills.
Doctson has been sidelined by left Achilles tendon tendinitis. The Redskins’ 22nd overall pick in the draft sustained the injury during rookie minicamp in May and aggravated it during the first week of organized team activities. He spent training camp on the physically unable to perform list but was activated on Saturday.
Toward the end of the preseason, Doctson ramped up his workload and began running routes. Gruden said Doctson will be eased back into action as the Redskins begin preparing for their season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football next week.
