HOBOKEN, N.J. (AP) - Ride-sharing giant Uber has refunded fares to more than 1,000 users whose morning commutes were impacted by the fatal train crash in Hoboken.
A spokesman for Uber in New Jersey tells NJ.com (https://bit.ly/2dEcE49 ) that the San Francisco-based company refunded fares to anyone who ordered a ride from Hoboken Terminal from the time of Thursday’s accident until noon.
Gov. Chris Christie announced that at least 1 person died and 108 people were injured when a New Jersey Transit train slammed into the rail bumper at the end of the line around 8:45 a.m.
Travel between Hoboken and New York City was disrupted by the accident, causing many commuters to turn to Uber.
Drivers for the company will still earn their regular fares while Uber picks up the cost for the riders.
