The daylong hack-a-thon event is being hosted downtown Saturday by Chevrolet, a brand of Detroit automaker General Motors.

The teens - from the U.S.., China, India, South Korea, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Israel and Dubai - will be given the problem and allowed to develop technological solutions. The solutions will be judged by their peers with the best being named hack-a-thon winner.

Chevrolet global executives will be part of a team of panelists participating in the event.
