SAN PABLO, Calif. (AP) - A San Pablo police officer has died after his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck and a big-rig on Interstate 80.

KNTV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2cGcUCk ) that 53-year-old Officer Ken Zink, of Dixon, died Thursday morning while driving his 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle through Vallejo.

California Highway Patrol says Zink somehow collided with the Nissan pickup, was ejected from the bike and then was hit by the big-rig. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Zink was a nine-year veteran of the San Pablo Police Department. His most recent duty was as a resource officer for Helms Middle School in San Pablo. The school has plans to have a memorial for Zink.
