U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said today that the United States is close to suspending diplomatic talks with Russia over the situation in Syria and will consider “military options.”  The U.S. and its allies in the region claim Russia is intentionally committing war crimes by bombing aid convoys and hospitals and have abandoned the recently negotiated cease-fire. Kerry also claims Russia is using bunker-buster bombs in civilian areas. Russia, for its part, accuses the United States of sponsoring terrorism in the region.

“We are on the verge of suspending the discussion because it is irrational in the context of the kind of bombing taking place to be sitting there trying to take things seriously. It is one of those moments where we are going to have to pursue other alternatives,” said Kerry, reported Reuters.

The Kremlin said “Russia would continue the operation of its air force in support of the anti-terrorist activity of Syria’s armed forces.”

The simple fact is Russia, along with forces of the Syrian government, are determined to defeat the anti-Assad rebels and there is nothing the United States can under this White House, or will, do about it. No one believes in Obama or Kerry’s red lines and therefore Russia has the green light to take as much territory as it can before the new administration takes office in January.
