DETROIT (AP) - Graduation certificates will be presented to 79 Detroit residents who have completed an environmental remediation jobs program.
A ceremony is scheduled Friday at the city’s Northwest Activities Center.
Their training included environmental construction and deconstruction, and asbestos and lead abatement.
The program is part of advanced training that prepares unemployed and underemployed city residents for well-paying careers.
The Detroit Environmental Employment Program is funded by a grant from the federal government. It is run by Detroit’s Buildings, Safety Engineering and Environmental Department and the Detroit Employment Solutions Corp.
