NEWPORT, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island coyote that was spared euthanization after a public outcry could find a new home at a Massachusetts zoo.

The director of Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford tells The Newport Daily News the zoo would take the coyote known as Cliff, but the animal would have to get a series of shots and go into quarantine first.

Cliff would also have to get along with another coyote already at the zoo.

Officials said Tuesday they haven’t made a decision on where Cliff will end up. The coyote remains free.

The coyote was set to be killed after it was spotted roaming around Newport and Middletown in broad daylight and appeared at a bus stop crowded with children. Police rescinded the kill order after a public outcry.
