Lin-Manuel Miranda, the playwright who created the Broadway smash hit “Hamilton,” has been tapped as the guest host for the Oct. 8 episode of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live,” Variety reported Wednesday.

Earlier this summer, Mr. Miranda took his final curtain call portraying the title character in the musical, but has kept himself busy on various projects.

According to the Internet Movie Database (IMDb), he composed music for Disney’s animated feature “Moana,” which hits theaters on Nov. 23, and in the near future will being filming for a 2018 “Mary Poppins” sequel opposite leading lady Emily Blunt, who plays the mysterious magical nanny.

In an interview with Variety published Tuesday, Mr. Miranda said that while it’s a “bucket list” item to direct a motion picture musical, a “Hamilton” adaptation for the silver screen isn’t in the making, yet.

“I haven’t had one meeting with one director. It’s something that I’m really trying to keep out of my mind until much later,” Mr. Miranda said.
