Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump declared Wednesday that his economic plan will make him the “greatest president for jobs that God ever created.”
Mr. Trump touted his plan to rev up the economy by cutting taxes, reducing federal regulations and negotiating better trade deals in a speech at the Polish American Congress in Chicago.
“We’re going to have job growth like you’ve never seen. I’m very good for jobs,” said the billionaire businessman. “In fact, I will be the greatest president for jobs that God ever created. That I can tell you.”
He said his plan to roll back regulations was more popular with U.S. business leaders than his proposal to slash tax rates, including repealing the estate tax and lowering federal income tax and corporate tax rates.
“You need some regulations for safety and environment. You need some regulations but we’ re going to cutting tremendous amounts of red tape,” said Mr. Trump.
Appealing for support from Polish Americans, Mr. Trump praised Poland for being a strong ally of the United States, including sending troops to Iraq and Afghanistan.
“As president I will honor Poland’s sacrifices for freedom,” he said. “We are committed to a strong Poland — very committed, totally committed — and a strong eastern Europe as a bulwark for security and liberty.”
In a swipe at Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, he reminded the crowd of the international flap caused by former President Bill Clinton saying that Poland “decided Democracy is too much trouble” because of the country’s opposition to accepting refugees.
Mr. Trump slammed Mrs. Clinton for wanting to increase the number of Syrian refugees coming to the United States despite the risk of terrorism.
“All you have to do is look at what happened, whether it is in New York or San Bernardino, whether it’s in Orlando. And frankly, you can go outside the country to Paris, Nice and all the different places,” he said. “And yet Bill Clinton will make a horrible statement like that concerning Poland.”
