OPINION:
I couldn’t help but feel disappointed following Monday night’s first Presidential Debate. I am a decided voter, what Hillary Clinton likes to call a ’deplorable,’ who will be voting for Donald J. Trump on November 8th.
However, I was very interested in hearing what Mrs. Clinton had to say about many issues directly related to her time as our Secretary of State. Love her or hate her, she held an important position that impacts the lives of Americans nationwide.
And, while Lester Holt didn’t quite give me déjà vu to Candy Crowley’s ridiculous outright bias, which was shown during the second 2012 Presidential Debate, he did not press Mrs. Clinton on the issues many Americans wanted to hear addressed.
Yes, I understand that there will be more debates. But, can we really count on Anderson Cooper and Martha Raddatz to do any better? I’m not sure.
Anyways, here are 3 topics from my very long list of issues that went unaddressed on Monday that Lester Holt should have covered.
1. Benghazi: How can some be so quick to forget that Mrs. Clinton lied to the American people following September 11th, 2012. Four Americans lost their lives. Until justice is served, this is not a dead issue.
2. Boko Haram: While Mrs. Clinton was Secretary of State, her department fought against putting the al Qeada-linked terrorist group Boko Haram on the official list of foreign terrorist organizations, despite the fact that they have killed tens of thousands of people and displaced millions more. The organization is also responsible for the kidnapping of thousands of women and children that went on to be forced into sex slavery and suicide bombing. How can we trust Mrs. Clinton to protect us from ISIS?
3. Pay for Play: As Secretary of State, Mrs. Clinton had her staff provide favors to Clinton Foundation donors. If this doesn’t scream elitism and corruption, I don’t know what does.
If Mr. Trump was our Secretary of State and did any of these things, he would have been crucified on Monday. This is just another example of the liberal bias of the mainstream media.
