Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine on Tuesday said Donald Trump showed at Monday’s debate he is “easily rattled” — particularly when Mr. Trump was confronted with a recent comment that he doesn’t think Hillary Clinton has a “presidential look.”

“He showed that he was easily rattled,” Mr. Kaine said on NBC’s “Today” program.

“Probably I thought Hillary’s best moment was when Donald Trump got challenged about comments that he’s made about her looks — that she doesn’t look presidential,” he said.

“He tried to change that into ’no, I was talking about her stamina’ and Hillary said you go to 120 countries and you sit before a congressional hearing for 11 hours and then talk to me about stamina,” he said.

“And in the split screen I was watching at that moment, she looked like she was ready for another 11 hours of debate, and he looked like he had run out of gas and was leaning up against the ropes,” Mr. Kaine said.

“That showed kind of a temperament and a preparedness issue, and I think really worked to Hillary’s advantage,” Mr. Kaine said.

Asked about a recent comment that he doesn’t think Mrs. Clinton has “a presidential look,” Mr. Trump had said at Monday’s debate: “She doesn’t have the look. She doesn’t have the stamina. I said she doesn’t have the stamina.”

That prompted the response from Mrs. Clinton Mr. Kaine was referring to about her travels as secretary of state and testimony before Congress.

“Hillary has experience, but it’s bad experience,” Mr. Trump then replied.

Mr. Kaine will square off against GOP vice presidential nominee Mike Pence at a debate Tuesday, Oct. 4 in Farmville, Virginia.
