ATLANTA (AP) - Police say an Atlanta business executive was shot after a gun discharged inside the car in which she was riding. She would later die from her injuries.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (https://on-ajc.com/2d4ycez) reports that police say 63-year-old Diane McIver was in a car on Piedmont Avenue in Atlanta with people she knew early Monday morning when a gun discharged, striking her.
Police say McIver was driven to Emory Hospital where she died in surgery at about 1:20 a.m. on Monday.
Detectives are investigating the shooting and have not released the names of the people in the car. They did not say if charges would be filed.
McIver was president of Corey Airport Services, an Atlanta-based company, for 43 years.
McIver lived in Buckhead with her husband, C.L. “Tex” McIver, an attorney.
