PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - The president and CEO of the Maine Credit Union League is stepping down after more than 20 years as head of the trade association.

The Portland Press Herald (https://bit.ly/2dp5PH7 ) reports that John Murphy said Monday he plans to retire on June 1, 2017. The association has hired a firm to conduct a search for Murphy’s successor.

Murphy was appointed president and CEO of the organization and its service subsidiary Synergent in July 1992. He’s also served on the board of the Credit Union National Association and the American Association of Credit Union Leagues.

The Maine Credit Union League serves 58 credit unions that represent more than 680,000 members.
