CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Former New Hampshire Gov. John H. Sununu is the latest Donald Trump skeptic to get behind the businessman’s presidential campaign.
Sununu, once a White House chief of staff to former President George H.W. Bush, says Trump is the only candidate who can “bring bold change” to Washington.
The Trump campaign touted Sununu’s endorsement Tuesday, after Sununu introduced vice presidential nominee Mike Pence at a Monday rally in the state.
But Democrats are pointing out that Sununu hasn’t always been a fan of Trump. He once told a Bloomberg reporter that Republicans’ chance of winning back the governorship would be hurt by Trump.
Sununu’s son, executive councilor Chris Sununu, is now the state’s Republican nominee for governor.
