RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Latest on the filling of vacant seats in the Nevada Legislature for an anticipated special session to consider raising hotel taxes in the Las Vegas area to help finance a $1.9 billion NFL stadium (all times local PDT):

1:10 p.m.

Washoe County commissioners have appointed three northern Nevadans to fill vacant seats in the Legislature for an anticipated special-session vote on whether to raise the Las Vegas hotel tax to build a NFL stadium that could bring the Oakland Raiders to the city.

All three said after their appointments Tuesday they have no preconceived notions about how they’ll vote during the special session Gov. Brian Sandoval expects to call in the coming weeks. That includes Republican Dominic Brunetti, a commercial real estate agent who played football at Stanford University.

Brunetti says he’s a fan of football as a sport and a business, but he won’t support the stadium deal unless it’s fair to the communities that could be affected.

The others are Democrat Julia Ratti (Ra-TEE’), a Sparks City councilwoman running for a permanent state Senate seat in November, and Republican Jesse Haw, a Reno developer.

As a stadium plan hangs in the balance, Washoe County commissioners are set to choose three people to fill vacancies in the Nevada Legislature.

The commissioners are meeting in Reno Tuesday ahead of an expected special session to consider raising the hotel tax in the Las Vegas area to help build an NFL stadium that could attract the Oakland Raiders to the city.

Gov. Brian Sandoval could call the special legislative session in coming weeks.

The commissions postponed the task last week after the Reno Gazette-Journal raised transparency concerns, saying the names of potential appointees were not published on meeting agendas.
