SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A California man has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $5,000 from his Shreveport employer.

Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Detective Casey Jones said Monday that 28-year-old Brandon Edward Davis, of Fontana, California, was arrested for felony theft and is being held at the Caddo Correctional Center. It was unknown if he’s represented by an attorney.

Davis worked at American Freight Furniture, where he was suspected of stealing five deposit bags of cash. Prior to the discovery of the missing money, Davis resigned and moved back to California.

During an investigation, it was determined Davis was the last person in possession of the deposit bags. Video surveillance shows Davis leaving the business with them.

Davis was arrested when he returned to Shreveport to collect his final paycheck and belongings.
