After a half, the Washington Redskins find themselves down 21-16 to the New York Giants.

After three field goals, the Redskins’ offense was finally able to break the goal line with two quick deep plays to DeSean Jackson. Jackson caught two passes for 75 yards and a score to draw the Redskins within five points.

But it wasn’t all good news for Jackson. Late in the second quarter, the speed-demon receiver had to be helped off the field, limping heavily on his left foot.

And with cornerback Bashaud Breeland already out of the game with an ankle injury, the Redskins’ secondary took another blow when safety DeAngelo Hall had to be helped off the field after suffering a left knee sprain on a tackle.

Then, with six seconds left in the second quarter and the ball on the 4-yard line, the Redskins forced one final play. Kirk Cousins fumbled the ball on the play on a sack by Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. Cousins recovered, but was unable to call a time out as time expired.

The defense has been able to keep up with the Giants passing game, but the success against the Giants’ running game has been a totally different story. Running backs Shane Vereen and Orleans Darkwa have each recorded a touchdown, and the pair has combined for 95 rushing yards.
