WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - All residents of a Wilmington rowhouse where a fire broke out early Saturday were able to escape to building.

The pre-dawn blaze killed two firefighters: Lt. Christopher Leach, 41, and Senior Firefighter Jerry Fickes, 51. The floor of the home collapsed as firefighters went inside, and four firefighters fell.

The Wilmington News Journal reports (https://delonline.us/2cRagYF ) that the residents were able to safely get out of the home. Debbie Napier, whose daughter lived in the rowhouse with her children, tells the newspaper she suspects the firefighters thought someone was trapped but “everybody got out.”

Two firefighters who were injured in the blaze were in critical but stable condition Saturday evening. Two other injured firefighters were treated at the hospital and released Saturday afternoon.
