MILWAUKEE (AP) - Authorities say a man has drowned after going into the Mitchell Park lagoon in Milwaukee.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a call from Milwaukee police Sunday morning. A woman reported seeing the man go into the lagoon around 7 a.m.

Divers from the Milwaukee Fire Department located the man and were able to resuscitate him at the scene. But the sheriff’s office says he later was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The man is identified as 64-year-old Richard Poblitz of Milwaukee. Sheriff’s detectives are conducting the death investigation.
