DETROIT (AP) - DTE Energy has been ordered to file a report on a Detroit girl’s accidental electrocution by Oct. 21.

The order by the Michigan Public Service Commission also directs the utility to develop a plan to eliminate the risk of abandoned power lines being energized by live wires.

A 12-year-old girl was killed on Sept. 7 when she had contact with a power line in a Detroit yard. The initial conclusion was that a dead line belonging to Detroit’s Public Lighting Department fell onto a live DTE line.

In a statement Friday, DTE says it will work closely with Detroit and state regulators.
