Robert Downey Jr., many of his “Avengers” co-stars, and a slew of Hollywood actors have filmed an anti-Trump ad for the super PAC Save the Day.
Director Joss Whedon has founded a pro-Hillary Clinton super PAC and enlisted Hollywood allies to bash Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. The video, titled “Important,” warns of a “racist, abusive coward who could permanently damage the fabric of our society.”
Some of the actors involved, aside from Marvel’s “Iron Man,” include Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Martin Sheen and Neil Patrick Harris.
“It’s a tipping point for the country, the world — for your world,” the actors say in an add that simultaneously lampoons celebrity activists while using them.
Mr. Whedon told the Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday that while he understands that many people do not care what celebrities think, at the same time their work “makes people stop.”
“Those are the ways you can get to people,” he told the website.
Save the Day plans to release up to 25 more videos before the presidential election Nov. 8, and Mr. Whedon has already donated $1 million to the cause.
