A man who said he was a plumber working to build a new Planned Parenthood facility in Washington, D.C., told sidewalk protesters he would have no problem installing piping for the Ku Klux Klan, extermination camps or maybe even Hitler.
The unidentified man stopped to have a conversation with protesters, among them Rev. Patrick Mahoney, outside of the construction site for Planned Parenthood’s new clinic in Northeast D.C.
They asked him whether it was morally right to work on a facility where “they’re going to be killing babies.”
“I’m a plumber,” he said in the video. “I don’t care if this is a Burger King, or a church or this. No, we’re here for the work. OK? We don’t advocate what the business does.”
When pressed by protesters whether he would help to construct a facility for the KKK, the plumber was similarly resolute.
“Absolutely I would,” he said. “I’m from the South, man. I like them. Seriously.”
But what about an extermination camp?
“Still would. Still would. Why not?” he said. “Somebody’s going to do it, OK? You can’t stop it. You can’t stop it.”
He even seemed open to plumbing for former German chancellor Adolf Hitler.
“I’m German,” he said. “Be careful what you say about that.”
Pro-life groups immediately called for Planned Parenthood and its political allies to disavow the plumber’s remarks.
Rev. Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition and pastor of Church on the Hill, called on Planned Parenthood to terminate its contract with the plumber immediately.
“It is outrageous and disgraceful that Planned Parenthood would have a racist and supporter of the KKK working on their new mega center in Washington, D.C.,” Mr. Mahoney said in a statement. “It is especially troubling when you consider this organization receives hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer funding yet hires people who embrace intolerance, hatred and bigotry while working in the very heart of our nation’s capital.”
Catherine Glenn Foster, president of Sound Legal Group, said the plumber’s views aren’t a surprise, “given Planned Parenthood’s 100-year history of racism and misogyny.”
“This video reaffirms Planned Parenthood’s most blatant disregard for our most basic human rights,” Ms. Foster said in a statement. “It is time for this behemoth of abortion, taxpayer dollars, and racism to shut its doors for good.”
