SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A fundraising road race in memory of a Marine from Springfield killed in attacks on military facilities in Tennessee is scheduled for this weekend.

The Gunnery Sgt. Thomas J. Sullivan 5K Remembrance Run is scheduled for Sunday.

It starts in the morning at Nathan Bill’s Bar and Restaurant.

The 40-year-old Sullivan was one of five service members killed during an attack on military facilities in Chattanooga in July 2015. The gunman was killed by police.

Sullivan grew up in Springfield.

Hundreds of runners are expected to participate in the race as well as a two-mile walk.

Proceeds from the race will benefit a scholarship fund in Sullivan’s name as well as the Galaxy Council support of the Marine Corps Birthday Ball.
