The NFL announced Thursday the 2017 draft will be held April 27-29 in Philadelphia.
The draft, which has turned into a three-day off-season extravaganza for the league, had been staged in Chicago the last two years after five decades in New York City.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney made the announcement.
“Philadelphia is a passionate football town and will serve as a tremendous backdrop for the Draft and provide a great atmosphere for our fans and incoming players,” Mr. Goodell said.
According to NFL.com, other cities are vying to host future draft weeks, including Dallas in 2018. Other cities under consideration include Green Bay, Detroit, Denver, Chicago, Los Angeles, Jacksonville, Canton, Pittsburgh, and Atlanta.
