The Redskins managed just 60 rushing yards against the Ravens, making it a far-from-ideal day for the ball carrying crew.

Matt Jones, who rushed for just 31 yards, admitted it’s tough to go up against a top defensive unit in Baltimore. But Jones’ biggest impact was a costly fumble on his own 17 yard line, a turnover which would eventually lead to a Ravens’ field goal. Jones has struggled with ball carrying in his young career before. Last year, Jones fumbled the ball five times. The fumble against the Ravens was already his second of the year.

On the play, Jones never really got a good handle on the ball, bobbling it dangerously on the hand off. But the most recent fumble brings back negative memories of Jones’ rookie season.

“It was the handoff exchange with me,” Jones said. “I just bobbled the exchange trying to get into the hole at the same time and the defender put his head on the ball, so I just bumbled the ball. He just made a good play.”
