TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES, N.M. (AP) - State police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man at a home in Truth or Consequences.

Authorities say 65-year-old Ron Johnson has been booked on one count of murder.

Truth or Consequences police officers responded Friday to a report of shots fired from Johnson’s home.

Upon their arrival, officers located Johnson behind the property.

Police were trying to take him into custody when they spotted a .45 caliber revolver in his waistband.

But Johnson was arrested without incident.

Officers then found the body of 47-year-old Frank McClesky.

The New Mexico State Police was then contacted to lead the investigation.

Investigators did not say what the relationship was between the suspect and the victim.

It was not immediately known Sunday if Johnson had an attorney.
